Hi

Has anyone any problems booting into Windows after installing Yosemite? I originally had a Mavericks and Windows 8 partition but after adding a Yosemite partition I can't boot into Windows. When I go into Starup Disk and choose to restart from Bootcamp I get a black screen saying to press a key to install from a disk. If I use the option key during startup the Bootcamp partition simply doesn't appear.

Just me?!

Thanks for any help.

So I've discovered that adding an extra partition when bootcamp is installed has caused problems before! I've now removed by Yosemite partition but Disk Utility won't allow me to extend my original Mavericks partition. Basically I've been left with about 100GB unusable space! Bootcamp still doesn't boot but I haven't removed that just yet.

Does anyone have any idea as to how to reclaim the space from my old Yosemite partition?

Any help GREATLY appreciated! :)

You're gonna need a tool like winclone. With this tool, you can make a copy of your bootcamp, delete the bootcamp, adjust your partitions, make a drive fat32 partition, then use your copy to make it into a new bootcamp.

Bootcamp requires a MBR drive to boot. Mac uses GUI to boot. Apple creates a hybrid GUI-MBR when you originally run the bootcamp tool. If you do anything to the partitions after that, your bootcamp is unbeatable because the hybrid GUI-MBR become changed. It's a lot like grub in the unix world, change the drives and break grub.

If you don't want to buy winclone, then you can always recreate your bootcamp and reinstall windows.

Boot off Internet Recovery, then use the Disk Utility in the Internet Recovery to expand the partition.

If your Bootcamp was an EFI installation of 8/8.1, you could try this: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/19189348/

Else, like what ssls6, buy winclone or re-create your Bootcamp.

I know it's an old thread but I had the same issue. Install Yosemite in a third partition, so had mavericks Yosemite and win 8.1. Removed Yosemite and had free space that was unusable.

The only solution was to wipe the windows partition by going to bootcamp in mavericks and removing windows, then I was able to recover all the space. I have a very minimal win setup so was only a few hours out of my life to setup again. I still haven't found an ideal way to restore a win image with all program's etcetera included, that would fe ideal.

Hi

You can use disk utility in debug mode to delete the invisible partition.
