Hi,

I just wanted to install Windows 7 via BootCamp, but I'm not able to drag the slider so Windows will get more than 20GB... The funny thing is, that if I click on the point it says, that Mac OS has 820GB free, but that's wrong... Actually I have 455GB free... But see it yourself:

I know if my disk is fragmented that could be a problem, but since my iMac is nearly new and I didn't copy and delete much on it, I don't belive, that's that the problem...

Any suggestions??? :)

I noticed that the 2 images report the disk size differently as well as the free space. What size and type of disk do you have? Also, could you select the disk in finder and do a Get Info on it, and then grab a screenshot like what I attached here.

Now I have enough information to hazard a guess as to what's going on. Your disk is over 85% full. You may have had more files on there or have had some file turnover. Anyway some of your data is near the end of the disk. 20GB is probably the free space after the last of your data in the partition.

This is one of the rare cases cases where a disk defragmenter might actually help. You would have to check with the companies to see if the defragmenter has been tested with a Fusion Drive. Do note that the system may have to move around files again after it's defragmented to put the right files back on the SSD portion of the Fusion drive so the system may need time to get back up to speed.

Also since you're talking about your system disk, you do need 10% to 20% free for best operation. With a 3TB drive, 10% should be fine, however if you carve out a bootcamp partition you may go under the 10% free. You may want to consider an external drive for some of your files (or deleting some).
