Bootcamp or Parallels

I've recently purchased an IMAC with only Mac OS on it and now want to load Windows XP Pro. What are the differences between using Bootcamp and Parallels? Is one more stable than the other? I'll be using Adobe Photoshop for Mac on this machine, but I also have MS Office and other PC software that I would like to use. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
