i have been unable to partition my ssd for bootcamp (manually or via assistant), and have read a bit about it. From what i can tell, it is due to the current configuration of my ssd partitions/volumes. I REALLY do not want to reinstall macOS just to set up windows via bootcamp. Can anyone depict a way for me to resolve this (via software or any means) without reimaging the macOS? Below is a screenshot of my current configuration. Thank you.

Having the same issue and trying to find a way to sort it out without formatting the whole mac. Did you find a solution that worked?

not yet... honestly havent tried in a while because i got a surface so it has not been a necessity. when i was researching it (when i posted this) though, i read a lot about it having to do with the beta channel (which i joined before catalina was released and left after the official catalina release)... did you enroll as well? that will help me eliminate or verify that portion..

Removing Bootcamp partition also seems to fail. Went into repeated crashing loop. Thought I hosed my Mac (2020 Intel Mac mini). My guess Monterey removed any real support. Use Big Sur (clone backup you can use).

are you going back to big sur? if you do, are you willing to make dual boot with bootcamp and then upgrade back to monterey and see if it still functions and let us know? if i have to go that route, i am willing...

I use CCC to keep backups. And older TimeMachine. No, I have decent Surface laptops to use, though the Mac has better specs and runs 10 even better. Only reason to use BS is to remove Boot Camp. Not sure though if that's safe so that I can reclaim 512GB solely for Mac.

Clone, Erase, Restore, as long as you have those.

No, am not in the beta. I tried numerous times but it still failed. So, I did a clean install of Monterey but backed up using Time Machine to an external hard drive, but also to my Time Capsule. I still have one of those. Then after reinstall of Monterey, reclaimed about 300GB in the process and now the Boot Camp runs well. Installing windows as I type. So, this is the route that has worked out for me.

Boot Camp needs contiguous free space. So booting from another disk can work. It can't move locked files and Mac OS puts some at far end of the disk that cannot be moved, that has been true since day one - 2007 infancy when BC began.

Glad it worked.
