bootcamp question

hi i have bootcamp win 7 on a partition on my mechanical drive [internal].i have ordered a usb 3 external enclosure and a crucial ssd i intend to clone the disc to boot from the external ssd ,
1 will the entire drive including win 7 go over to the new ssd
2 if so how do i erase the internal disc to use as a storage
is this ok or can some one tell me differently cheers
 
All OS X cloning programs I am aware of will only clone the OS X portion of the drive ... they will not clone your Windows partition.

However, after you are up and running with the cloned OS X SSD, you can re-create a Windows partition on the SSD (use BootCamp assistant), then you can use "WinClone" by TwoCanoesSoftware to make a perfect ready-to-run clone of the Windows installation.

Once you are sure you are satisfied with the new drive configuration, you can do as you wish with the old internal hard disk space. You can continue to use WinClone as a periodic backup solution for the Windows partition.

hi i have now cloned my mac os to external ssd ,can i just format the old hdd in the mac mini and use it for storage ,?if so how? cheers

Do you still have your Windows installation on the internal hdd and wanting to save that?

If so, use Disk Utility while booted on the external SSD normally, and select the OS X partition and erase it. You can now use it for data storage.

If you no longer need anything on the disk and want to eliminate the Windows partition as well, again use Disk Utility, select the top-level disk and create a new single partition for OS X. This will eliminate the dual partition scheme and create a full size single partition for your OS X data storage.
 
oh no! i deleted the original mac os ,i know can only boot into the windows partition on the internal,the cloned mac on the ssd is there because i can see it .i cant even boot into the external using the option key what can i do ????/

You must have been booted into OS X on the external SSD when you deleted the original ... right? Pressing and holding the "Option" key at the startup chime should bring up the boot menu with (hopefully) the external SSD choice. Once you are booted up to that installation again, be sure to select it as the "Startup Disk" in your System Preferences to avoid the above routine.
