I'm considering buying a macbook pro and installing bootcamp with windows xp. I own an old dell PC with a copy of XP on it with the install cd. I'm considering clearing off that dell and putting linux on it..essentially freeing up that copy of windows. Does anyone know if I can then use this copy of windows xp to install via bootcamp on the macbook pro? Thanks.

That dell also has office 2003 on it...so i'd assume the same would apply for office? Thanks.

You can't do this...you need a copy of XP that did not come with a computer...

Why do you say this? The disc they have probably is a full install version...if not SP2 it can be slipstreamed. The license belongs to them, as long as it's only on 1 comp at a time it should be fine.

yea..its probably sp0 but i'm sure it can be slipstreamed.

What I'm curious about is if there is some dell or OEM licensing thing that will prevent me from using the cd? Again..I would be only using it on the MBP and would remove it from the dell.
