Recently upgraded to a new mac and have a question. I have come to the understanding that I could actually install windows onto an SDcard that i have inserted. If this is the case and my SDcard slot may only be big enough for windows and not any games, I would still have to partition some storage for windows to have the game files on correct? Not sure how i would go about that o_O

Also, what is generally considered the best/smallest version of windows to use for gaming only?

Thanks!

I dont think you can install it on an SD card, Ive tried with no luck :[
A USB device maybe, but not SD. Let me know if you manage to do it though

ah i misunderstood. i guess il have to put windows on partition and put games on SD card. would SD card be comparable speeds to USB 3.0 if i put the games on there?

...

Windows 7 Starter Edition, if not, at least is the Windows version with less features....

:):apple:

I opted for Windows 7 Home Premium for boot camp. Just going to play game. Should I have gone with Professional or Ultimate?

Maybe.....

I guess what I meant was. For gaming purposes is there any advantage to using Professional or Ultimate over Home Premium.

and this a BIG maybe, wider and better support for hardware.....

No.

Note that SD cards are very slow. Your load/save times may be very bad.

What's the optimal windows with smallest footprint? 7?

turning off some of the windows features such as media players / gadgets / touch device options / XPS viewers might help a little.

I generally turn off the page file and have had no trouble with 8GB ram on a retina 15 mbpr

Also running powercfg -h off from cmd should disable hibernation and save you a considerable amount of HDD depending on how much RAM you have

no you'll be fine. there are some RAM limitations but that's the only thing that will affect you as pro supports up to something like 192GB and premium supports less but you probably won't meet it.

Hardware support should be the same.

Guess you saved yourself some pennies for more games
