just would like to confirm on bootcamp. Thinking of getting ideally new tiger lake macbook air if it ever release as the last intel macbook air for my girlfriend. As she do not game but want to have a peace of mind she able to run any software she wants.. so intel mac will be better for her..

Let's say if I buy an intel mac and update the software to Big Sur.. i can still do a Windows 10 boot camp right..? Only Apple silicon mac can't bootcamp.. so it is like a hardware level and not software level..? And not all Big Sur update onwards any mac including intel mac cant do bootcamp anymore..?

I don't understand your inquiry.

If GF needs access to applications running in Windows today, buy the Mac and run that app however is convenient (Bootcamp, Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox, WINE, CrossOver, whatever).

The fact that Apple Silicon Macs won't be able to run Bootcamp is irrelevant at this moment.

Both of you should be aware that at some point 2-3 years from now Apple will stop selling Intel Macs. The day they do that won't stop whatever Intel Macs you are running from booting up.

Thanks for confirming. My question was as long as it is intel mac, I will be able to run Windows 10 bootcamp regardless of mac os 11 and future mac os updates.. i was just thinking if the bootcamp is removed from Big Sur onwards on a software level..

No one here can answer that question.

Apple could easily remove Bootcamp support in a future version of macOS if they wanted to. They deprecated OpenGL without hesitation after ample warning.

That said, Apple doesn't usually remove features from macOS versions that they are no longer actively developing for. Apple didn't remove OpenGL support for Macs running El Capitan. They still run OpenGL applications just fine.

Even if Apple would do that, you still would be able to dual-boot Windows, unless they also block that on the firmware level. Bootcamp is just a tool to make installing Windows easier, it is not needed to make it possible in the first place.
