Buying a iMac for running W10 through bootcamp and audio production. Using FL Studio. Mainly working with Native Instruments Komplete Ultimate 11 and some orchestral libraries: Symphony Series - Ensemble, Brass and Woodwind Collection.
Currently considering the following options (plus after market ram):
512GB, 3.4 GHz i5 (1980 USD)
512GB, 3.5 GHz i5 (2160 USD)
512GB, 3.8 GHz i5 (2340 USD)
512GB, 4.2 GHz i7 (2520 USD)
Previously I have mainly bought i7 on most of my computer purchases, but the heat and fan issues are making me crazy. Im not sure how I feel about the fan noise: I'm not recording stuff, so I might be able to live with, but of course, continuously fan noise is not something I want. Also, some concerns relates to the heat i7 might create, and if this would potentially harm the computer in the long run.
How does the 3.4 GHz i5 compare to the 4.2 GHz i7? Saving 27% seems nice if the base line i5 handles my kind of work. But, since I'm already minimum spending 2K USD, I really dont care if I need to spend 500 USD extra.
Thanks
