Kinda got lost in the discussion of late. Is it safe to update my Sierra to HS on my 5,1? Will it have adverse effects on my Bootcamp partition? I'm using a 1070 unflashed and a GT120 for backup. Currently set to boot from Windows only (on SSD). Thanks for your help!

No, MacOS and Windows are totally in dependent.

However, if you upgrade to APFS, then the bootcamp control panel in Windows won’t be able to “see” your APFS partition (in this case, MacOS). Therefore, won’t give you the option to boot to MacOS in Windows.

If your backup GT120 is actually installed inside the cMP, then you can use option boot to choose to boot to MacOS.

Otherwise, use BootChamp with SIP disabled can also switch between MacOS and Windows without the required to perform PRAM reset.

Thanks so much. Will get down to upgrading this weekend.
