Bootcamp with 4K monitor

Hi guys.
I have a nMP and a dell up3214 monitor.

It runs fine in 10.9.3 at 60hz. I try and boot into windows by starting up with option key held down. Often the mac stays on but there is no monitor activity. It's like the boot options menu doesn't support mst. If I unplug mac from power, set monitor to mst off, then plug mac back in, I can boot to windows, but I'm only at 30hz. I have given up playing with it tonight, but was wondering what experiences everybody else has had with 4k 60hz and bootcamp.

Any tips or tricks?

I have a Windows based machine with a GTX 660 connected to an Asus PQ-321 (4k UHD monitor).

The machine won't POST with the PQ-321 connected via displayport in MST mode. The reason, I think is that the motherboard's BIOS screens (640x350, EGA) can't be displayed by the GPU in MST mode.

The solution, I found was to connect another display (non-4k) via DVI. The machine shows the boot screens on the DVI monitor.

The other solution, on Windows at any rate, is to use the two DVI ports on the GPU with two dual link DVI to HDMI 1.4a convertors and connect to the monitor in dual-HDMI mode on the ASUS. The POST and boot screens show up on half the screen until the drivers load. This might not be an option for you as I think the Dell doesn't support dual HDMI mode (1920x2160x2).

But connecting another (non-4k) monitor to another port will resolve your problem.

[EDIT] One more thing, with ATI GPUs connected via displayport, sometimes there an issue with the display not coming back up once the machine goes to sleep.

I occasionally want to boot into Windows to play a game. Can I set the mac pro (while in mac os) to boot to windows next reboot, but only for 1 time (so after that I can restart into mac) without dealing with using a second monitor so I can see the boot menu.

Alternatively, when in windows (bootcamp) can I set the mac to boot back into mac next time?

Did you install the bootcamp drivers?

There is a bootcamp control panel for just such a thing, and "Startup Disk" preference pane in OSX

That being said, sometimes they don't work quite right but usually they are fine.

I doubt that we will ever have boot screens in MST as that would have to be written into EFI
