Just for the hell of it, I tried booting into Windows connecting my USB3 SSD into a TB3 port via a USB to USB-C adaptor. The drive was recognised OK, and the Windows logo appeared OK. However, just before getting to the login screen, my iMac just restarts.
Is this something that should work OK?

What about a USB port, but I guess you boot your other mac via USB... never mind, sorry.

Sorry, I guess I’m not making myself clear. I have no problems booting from the drive via a USB3 port. I just tried the TB3 port via USB-C cable for the hell of it to see if the transfer rate would be any different.
As I said, it starts booting Windows, but when it gets to go to the login screen, it just stops and shuts down my iMac.
