I have a 250gb Hard drive and I want to be able to put Tiger on it so that I can boot MY Tiger OS X on a different Mac ot even my Mac. Can someone tell me if there is a app out there to do this or if it can be done easly with Disk Utility.

Thanks!

Often external USB hdd's will not work. Firewire is more of a sure thing.

Do you mean clone? If so try SuperDuper or CarbonCopyCloner to make an exact bootable copy.

It has to be FireWire as stated above BTW.

Plug in drive to your mac, insert tiger disk, run the install. Just select your external drive to install to when asked.
Ok, thats the installing part...now how would I boot from that Tiger on the HD on a different Mac? And also how would you uninstall the whole OS X off the HD if needed?

thanks

Yea, but SuperDuper actually clones every single file which would mean about 100gb. What If i just want Tiger without my files...then I would use the Tiger Install Disk and install on the HD to get the Basic Tiger?

Duff-Man says...plug in the drive into the Mac you want it boot from. Turn on said Mac and hold the <option> key - the Mac will look for any bootable volumes and present you with icons for them on a blue screen. Click on the volume you wish to start up from. To 'uninstall' the OS just reformat the drive.....oh yeah!

Is it an Intel Mac?

You do realise you can't boot a disk imaged on an Intel Mac on a PPC Mac and vice versa right?

Get Carbon Copy Cloner (or pay for SuperDuper,) and you can have it ignore your files (music, etc.) and have it only copy the important stuff (preferences and so on).
