Borderlands by Feral

I recently purchased Borderlands from Feral Interactive. The game runs great and proves to be one of the decades best games/ports. But, there is a major flaw that Iʻve yet to be able to fix.

When playing you have the option to aim down your sight, by clicking a key or button (Mine is Left alt). Once in the scope you should be able to fire by clicking on the mouse. When I zoom down my sight and try to fire, nothing happens. I can zoom down fine but i cannot fire. So then I tried messing around with the controls a bit.

Left alt scopes & Control fires: Worked
Mouse scopes & Left alt fires: Worked

THe only issue is when I play it the normal way i would play any other FPS. I am receiving a new gaming mouse in the mail, the Logitech MX 518. Iʻve read around and found that it wasnʻt made to support Mac, but people have found ways to make it work flawlessly. Iʻm not worried about this.

Hopefully the game will start working when that new mouse comes in, but anyone have any idea why this would be happening. Itʻs unlike Feral to miss a key aspect like this in their port.

I'm playing this on a 360.

Your new mouse should be Mac compatible and Logitech even has Mac software to allow you to reprogram buttons with relative ease. I suspect this will resolve your issue.

since years i use my (oh i think its my third or fourth) MX-518 on Mac AND my PC.
Works without problems so far.

So you have the MX-518 working flawlessly on a mac? Iʻve read that i need to get USB overdrive of Steermouse to make it work fully? did you do this?

You can use a PS3 pad, or a Logitech pad. Or you can try the solution I wrote about here which hacks your settings files so zoom is a toggle getting around the Magic Mouse limitations.

Only real issue is the problem of online play. A lot of the servers are running 1.4.1 and so far iʻve yet to be able to join/host one successfully. Anyone know how to do so?

Don't mess with any port forwarding connect to GameRanger, and join a game, make sure late join is enabled (so you can try again if you have issues). Some PC players might have hosting issues but I have not seen any problems here when testing PC v.s Mac or Mac v.s. Mac although sometimes the loading screens will take a while.

If you have a reproducible example please contact support about it and we can investigate further.

(Itʻs really hard to explain). BUt after this happened, I rejoined and my entire profile was gone. The level 21 hunter I have worked so hard to get was deleted. =/

If you contact support we can look into what is special about your machine hardware, OS and installation.

Joining games I could only join versions that were above mine. Will there be version updates for this game?

The final PC patch is 1.41 and the Macintosh version is based on the PC 1.41 which is the latest code. If you want to play with PC players online you need to be running the same version of the game as your windows teammates, the Mac version uses the final patch 1.41 code and can only join 1.41 hosted games, other versions will NOT work. We don't expect the PC code to be patched again at this stage although we might patch the Mac version if Mac specific issues occur but to be clear the Mac version is exactly the same as the PC 1.41 final patch version and is fully up to date and requires no updates.

I also had played the Windows Version and the loading screen on Windows took also some time. Thats not Mac specific i would say

MX518 works out of the box!
I've been using it for years.

Also Borderlands is a great game. I bought the PC version when it came out and finished it in a few weeks, great game!

But Iʻd really like someone to tell me step by step how to actually set up a game on GameRanger. I think I understand the problem, itʻs something with port forwarding, but I have no idea how to fix this issue at all. I read the link herehttp://www.gameranger.com/support/hosting/ more than once and still donʻt know what to do. Itʻs really annoying.

It's mostly not down to port forwarding just a lot of the games are hosted by PC players with older versions of the game that are not compatible. We have see a couple of issues caused by older version PC players trying to join and we are investigating these reports.
