There was a time when I used to check Apple news/rumor sites daily for apple/mac related news but in the last few months I just don't seem to do so.

I still love macs and wot not but I think it's the fact that Apple news sites are now overloaded with iPhone/telecoms news and it just doesn't interest me in the slightest.

I mean, currently on the macrumors home page there are 10 main stories. 6 of them are iPhone related.

Anyone else the same?

Yeah...

Everything is iPhone iPhone iPhone. Sure, it's a nice gadget but it's not that great.

Would rather Apple focused on making some awesome Macs than the iPhone.

Plus the whole "The iPhone could be on THIS carrier, and not the one we stated earlier" thing is getting old. I mean, it was interesting until about November when the iPhone came to Europe. Now it's just dull. For some people, it's good but it should really be in the iPhone section if it's just carrier info, I suppose... well I think it should be anyway...

What happened to all the rumors about the multi-touch Mac and stuff? After Macworld, the rumors just died.

In fact, most of the Mac related rumors did =\

Absolutely right. At least the iTV thing has died down now because there was a time when it ran almost like the iPhone. I don't know why I come here any more actually. Quad iMacs and laptops will come when they come and that's all there is to it. Couldn't give a toss about a mobile phone and I can get flamed by unthinking right wing wankers in the local bar!:p

Well, to be fair, I'd guess without iPhone news, there would be less update.

So in place of 10 article, with 6 iPhone based ones. It would be 4 article, none about the iPhone.

So what about the iPhone isn't a Mac? It runs Mac OS X, Has the usual Apple basic utilities optimized and suited for a truly portable device, and happens to be able to make phone calls. It's a handheld Mac. It extends my MacBook.

Also, it's the newest major device released by Apple. The iPod was 2001 and got all the love for the first few years. It isn't even a year with the iPhone, and there's miles to go yet to establish it firmly as a category-defining product.

Besides, the less you hear about the Mac generally indicates major stuff under wraps (and under the snooping radar of analysts & rumor sites), and a bigger the payoff when Steve finishes with "one more thing..."

You can also just block all the iPhone-related forums in your User CP if it really grates you that much. That's what I did. ;)

When was the last one more thing??? Never get anything fun like that anymore... :(

wouldn't you (we) be happier with a totally kick-a$$ One More Thing by waiting a good while than have to learn to like something forced out too soon and updated too frequently? Apple has the best user OS to date, the nicest computers, a great media online store, the most popular phone ever, and the best tech help (esp. when compared to PCs). something huge will come along in due time... for me, I'm happy with the stuff I have now! my Power Mac G5 will stay strong for many more years. I love it.

oh, and Apple also makes this mp3/movie player thing that most of the world covets and copies...

it seems that there has been substantially less actual mac rumors in the past 2 years or so. Actually, it might trace back to the intel switch when things became a bit more predictable, and the loss of thinksecret and macosrumors (which was always good for the crazy rumor).

99% of stuff on Apple news/rumour websites is now iPhone/Telecoms news. Very boring
