i made a REALLY stupid decision to jailbreak my iphone 3G on the new 3.0 firmware after having only had it for 3 days and surprise surprise, its stuffed up my iphone. every seemed ok after i jailbroke it, except that there was no reception on the phone but when i plugged it into the computer, i was met with the message "itunes cannot connect with this iphone because of an unknown error" and the device just doesnt show up on itunes at all. i've tried restoring it by putting it into recovery mode (press on/off button for 3 secs, then home button for 10 secs etc ) twice and after the recovery the message just pops back up. i've only had the phone for 3 days!!! and if my parents find out i'm so dead. could anyone who has any expertise on this subject please try and help me i will be forever thankful and i have learnt my lesson BIG TIME

For DFU mode:

1. Turn off phone.

2. Plug-in phone to computer and open itunes.

3. Hold down Power and home for 10 seconds (count out loud "one one thousand, two one thousand, ...)

4. Let go of power button only and continue holding home until message pops up in itunes.

Note: I've bricked my phone more time then I can count. So far, I've always been able to recover. Keep trying, don't give up.

fixed! :) :) :)

thankyou all for your advice. i had tried all those instructions before and it hadnt worked but i read somewhere that it should work if i plug it into a different PC and it did! the computer finally recognised my ipod and all is well.
thanks everyone!
