I have a 2010 mini with dual monitors. From time to time, when I wake up the machine, one of the displays doesn't wake up. Instead, it shows nothing but static. This isn't isolated to one display port or the other...it happens from time to time with each of them. Ideas.

Thanks,

I think a few other people have mentioned that too - I experience the same problem, but always on my Mini-DisplayPort monitor, not the Mini-DVI (I have the 2009 Mini).

I take it powering off/on the monitor is sufficient to bring it back to life? That typically works for me.

Duh, I've never tried that. I've always put the computer back to sleep and wake it up again, or change that monitors resolution, and change it back (if I can access that menu). I'll try to power cycle the monitor next time. Thanks!

it happened on my 13" MBP when using it with and HDTV with a HDMI-MiniDP adapter. when that happens i usually try shift control eject to put the display in 'sleep' and wake it back up without putting the machine to sleep and that helps too atleast in my situation. hopefully might be another alternative tip that works.

My Mac never sleeps, but I do experience the static problem when the Mac causes the displays to sleep. Simply turning the display off then back on fixes it without having to do anything with the Mac.

Thats essentially what i suggested, it cuts video signal to any of the displays by pressing SHIFT CONTROL EJECT at once, and usually resolves and sort of static issues as its equivalently like powering down and up the displays.
