Hi all.

For some reason the bottom row of icons on my home screen (row above the silver dock) no longer responds to my key presses, swipes etc. It was working fine last night and assuming I didn't abuse it in my sleep, I have no idea what's gone wrong.

I've tried a reset, restore, dfu restore and nothing seems to fix it. Although it sounds like a hardware problem to me, the on screen keyboard and calculator both work fine.

Unfortunately I can't get to an Apple store to see a 'genius' until Friday so if anyone has any ideas, let me know!

Neil.

The bottom of the screen works in other apps? I had the middle of my screen die on my old iPhone 2G. It just simply wouldn't respond to any sort of touch or swipe. Even though it was 2 years out of warranty (and jailbroken), I bought it to the Genius Bar, and they replaced it no questions asked. They said it's a known hardware issue.

It worked fine in the calculator and keyboard but not in bejeweled and safari. Also, on the phone dialing screen, if I pressed the * key, both the 7 and add contact buttons would get pressed simultaneously.

Weirdly, I woke up this morning and it's completely fine again. Maybe I really do mess with it in my sleep....

I kind of want it to break again so that I get a replacement because I'm certain it's not right. I doubt they'd just take my word for it in the apple store though.

My brothers 2g iPhone began doing this a month ago. Now the entire bottom half of the screen does not work.

Hopefully yours is doing it for a different reason, but this is what happened just before the majority of his screen went out.

(It still produces an image, but it is completely useless to all "touches")
