Yeah, I purchased my 2.0 quad 15" last night and while this machine is a BEAST, it is just too big and heavy for me. Originally, I was going to go MBA, but having the "latest and greatest" mentality, I decided against it. I'm gonna ride with the C2D lol! Honestly, I can do without HD FaceTime, Thunderbolt and Backlit Keys (which are VERY nice). The MBA can handle all of my computer needs with ease! So in a few hours, I'll be in the club! Can't wait!

EDIT: With the education discount it says $50 off, but when I max out the configuration it ends up at $1729 online (it shows $1799 at the Apple Store). Will they honor this price at the Apple Store?

Yes, they will as long as you can show that you are a student (with either a student ID or logging into your school email account).

Congrats on the decision. I am in a very similar situation too where the MBA would be the right choice, but again Apple has made it difficult for me to choose.

I'm typing from my Air right now! I absolutely love it so far! It's fast, thin and has enough horsepower for me too! I'm most excited about the 256GB of Flash Memory and this gorgeous screen. +1 for the MBA Ultimate!

What do you like about the screen compared to the 15"? How is it better?

It has the same resolution as the MBP 15", but there's more pixels per inch on the MBA. Colors look very crisp on the screen. It's almost retina-like in my opinion (it could be that I'm just happy as hell too lol).

Colours do*look washed out next to a MBP 15".

Has anyone managed to change the colour scheme to possibly match or come close to the MBP 15" 2010/11 colour gamut?

Yeah, that's the consensus and the measured result as well. The MBA has better contrast/deeper blacks and the MBP screens have better colour gamut and accuracy.

Also, the MBP's have a wider viewing angle - that said, I have both. I enjoy watching movies more on the MBP but the Air's resolution is stunning.
