Hi everyone,

I bought an iMac from the local flea market and only paid 50 dollars. I looked up the serial number and discovered it was a 2007 mid to late model. I only need this as a means to ocassionally use with my iphone for itunes. I tried to start it up and it will not let me install the OS on it. I click reinstall OS, then follow prompt to sign into apple and I get the error "temporarily unavailable try again later ". I have tried it several times but cant get it to work. I understand that it is a rather old imac but is there anyway to get this running without paying? Worst case scenario I lost 50 dollars .

Thank you guys!

Hey, if no-one can help you here try 'Low End Mac'.......its a site dedicated to older Macs.

I think a mac that old needs the OS X DVD for clean install and is not capable of internet recovery.

This machine came with OS X Tiger. So look for a Tiger installation DVD.

Later you can bring it to El Capitan. There is one trick with this, however.
You need to bring it to 10.6 using DVD or USB to get App Store and possibility to upgrade OS without external media.
