He! everyone :), sorry if this post its really bad written or has something out of place its my first post.

so I just bought a used late 2016 MacBook Pro 13 inch, its the base specs i5, 8gb of ram and 256 ssd, I liked it because its in really good condition it has none scratches, it only comes with the charger and loos like the keyboard has just been replaced with the new one so the top casing, track pad and battery are all new, in fact the battery only has 3 cycles, I paid about 1030 for it with free shipping what do you guys think? does it look like a good machine or did I make a mistake? o_O

I almost forgot I checked the serial number on apple website and says that it has warranty and it has apple care until October 2020 I find it curios since the seller didnt mention it, in case you are wondering the seller has 99% positive rating with 2k reviews so im not worry about that, thanks for your answers guys!

Only you can determine if its a good machine or a mistake. The keyboard has a known issue, but Apple does have a repair program instituted. Its up to you and your comfort level regarding that issue

Just remember that a year past that warranty ending you have an additional year of warranty on the keyboard. If it runs well and looks the way you want it to, you made a good purchase.

i have one too (late 2016 MBP).

other than keyboard issues:
the usb-c ports are mechanically loose; the connector dosnt fit snug like
the large track pad is larger than needed for me, un ergonomic and gets in the way of typing
mediocre hardware.

was it a good buy?; YES; likely not big changes between it and the 2018 model.
Your dong the right thing; i would not pay full price and buy another just released apple device.

I love the design of those MacBooks and im aware of the keyboard problem but I am very careful with my devices ill use a keyboard cover perhaps it helps to prevent the issue

ill use a keyboard cover to see if it helps prevent the issue, im aware of the usb c lose ports that's why I look for one with 4 ports, im really excited to try it when it arrives.

Careful with the covers. MacBooks vent some heat out through the keyboard.

I know, with my previous MacBook Pro I used a cover for the last 5 months of use, but the thing is that I work close to a dusty area and about the heat I use the laptop for short periods of time like 30 minutes or so then I close up the laptop and put it inside a sleeve, u think it would still affect it?
[doublepost=1548787360][/doublepost]Guys to be honest I still got my previous MacBook Pro its a 2015 13 inch model, I bought the 2016 because im selling this 2015 to my sisters for college so she would not use it near dust or anything, this one is very well take care of only with 139 cycles on battery, she told me that she would bought this or the new one she likes them both, u think I should sell her the new one and keep this one? I love the new design and the Touch Bar looks really nice to me, anyway thanks for all your reply!

I honestly would never give up a 2015 for a 2016. The 15s are coveted.

You’re going to get a lot of mixed opinion on which laptop to keep. I personally came from a 2008 MBP to my current 15” 2016 MBP. I love the 2016 MBP and have had no major issues with my keyboard.

I think ill get the 2016 one, I'll test it when it arrives and probably keep it, yours have the original keyboard or has it been replaced? do u use a keyboard cover? anyway if my keyboard fail ill get it for replace, if that Mac gives me too much trouble ill sell it and get another 2015 max out but hopefully it will be reliable im really careful with my devices and I clean them regulary

Not the worst price ever; particularly with AppleCare+ coverage through 2020. Make sure you wear it out good before it ends to ensure that you are covered for any mechanical failures.

Coverage is determined by the serial number. If they give you any slack about it, show them your purchase receipt (which should hopefully have the serial number attached to it).

Well it is luck of the draw I guess. On my 2016 15” MBP the keyboard was replaced twice, Logic board replaced, I/O ports replaced, and the screen replaced (coating). Hope you have better luck with yours and be glad that it has AC on it.

at this point you are big time gullible if you believe anything apple says.
to that ends:
-who is to say if the keyboard issue its a dirt contamination issue, if so, what size partial is the most problematic??
-what if its heat escaping through the keyboard assembly??

just be careful out there

I
I think that the biggest thing to look out for is FlexGate.

Look it up.
i know! I was looking at that yesterday, even if the laptop looks almost brand new I can’t tell for sure how much it has honestly with all this problems this might have I’m even thinking of returning it to the seller without even open it

Wow that’s a lot of trouble man, I don’t really like to wait for things to get fix

honestly I didn’t know they were that unreliable I knew only about the keyboard issue I wasn’t worried too much about it since I don’t type too much but looks like the hole Mac has problems everywhere
