Bought iPhone 3G abroad.... lock to UK o2??

Hi,

I've bought an iPhone whilst I was on holiday in Asia, Is there anyway I can restore the iPhone back to the factory status (its already unlocked) and lock it to another country, for my Situation O2 as I live in the UK.

If this is not possible, can someone tell me the easiest solution to restore the iPhone 3G, download the newest firmware then unlock, as long as its a simple unlock that does not show any logos or apps on my home screen showing I've unlocked it.
As how the guy I bought it off unlocked it but it shows no proof or programmes, but I can use any sim like a dream.

But whatever really, as long as its a program everyone uses, I'll join the crowd and start using it too.

This is a first. You want to lock it back to a carrier? Why? You can still use the iPhone 3G on O2, just put in an O2 sim card, sign up for O2 service or go PAYG.

I also don't understand about restoring back to "factory status." Where did you buy the phone? From a legit Apple distributor or other?

I bought it in Dubai (i thought the phone was from Asia), its not offically out there but some shop had them in and I couldnt miss the chance too buy one.

its all legit, not a fake.

But after 10mins of looking on Google, I've answered my question...

The iPhone is actually from Hong Kong, but the carrier who launched the iPhone there have allowed users to use any sim (legally unlocked pretty much), hence I can put any sim it in and I will not need any unlocking software.

My answer is backed up by the 'horses mouth' - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937

So I can easily update now my firmware and my phone will not get blocked, as theres nothing illegal being done?

As there are no software unlocks for the iPhone 3G at this time, that's what I was figuring and why I couldn't understand why you would want to lock it to O2. You spent good money on an unlocked iPhone so why lock it, ya know what I mean.
