Yay! Bought buy 15" MBP today. It's my first Mac.

I can buy a laptop bag for 10% off over the next 24 hours. Any suggestions for brands to avoid/look for. Any recommended models. Do people prefer the skins or the larger bags. Why?

PS Yay!

You're first mac! Congratulations and welcome to the family. Although I am a bit jealous that your first mac is a 15" MBP. Mine was a powermac 7600/133 with 16MB of RAM. What a fossil.

Anyway, I would go with a brenthaven case if you want a full featured case. I have one that fits the 15" Powerbook and it's served me well. If you want a sleeve, the incase ones are pretty reasonable and do the trick.

Good luck and congrats again!

whatever happened to that Powerbook/iBook bag thread?

if you have an Apple store nearby, check that out.

booq makes the best bags, imo. I ended up getting a backpack at the Apple Store from incase. Looked just like the 17" Booq bag, but was something like $60-70 compared to $150. booq makes nice sleeves too.

Brenthaven - especially if there is a possibility you might drop it, bang it underneath an airline seat, etc. It's not "sexy," but it is bulletproof.

I second the Timbuk2 suggestion. I have 2 i use currently one for my work laptop, one for my home laptop, and I have a third on order for my 17" MBP which is on the way. Simply my favorite bag maker!

I cant represent Timbuk2 enough. Messanger bags are way to "trendy" for me, so I purchased a Timbuk2 Track Day Pack for carrying my 15" MBP. I love this backpack, I carry it arround even when I could without a backpack. I can carry my school books, scretch book, pens, drawing pencils, personal reading book, digital camera, nintendo ds, and my 15" MBP to school without my backpack being bulky. Yet again I love it!
