Bought my white 2.0Ghz MacBook today!

2.0Ghz MacBook
2gb RAM
160gb Seagate Momentus (Perpendicular recording) hard disk drive.
Mighty Mouse

My dying PowerBook is getting worse, so I've run out of time to wait on C2D and I'm guilt free in my purchase!

I decided on the Seagate drive, even though it is only 5400rpm, because it provides quieter operation and lower heat at extremely close to 7200rpm speeds. And the size for my growing iTunes library :-D

Congrats, I just picked one up at the Charlotte Apple store yesterday. They are pretty sweet. Or will be when my 2GB gets here tomorrow. I didn't see much point in waiting for C2D either, I'm shure you'll be happy. Give us an update on the drive when you get a chance.

Sometimes I wish I had 2GB of RAM...

but I'll probably upgrade later. I'm still crossing my fingers to see if leopard sees 4GB of RAM in the Macbooks (or a possible fw upgrade that'll allow them).

Did you order a BT MMouse or a wired MM?

The reason I ask is that I'm unsure about using a BT mouse with my future Macbook - just the extra drain on the battery using BT in general. Just want the most battery life I can get per session. Is the BT mouse drain negligible or noticeable?

Im guessing that when one uses a mouse, one generally uses a desk, and is therefore usually close to a power supply, anywhere without a power supply I can think of, you can use a trackpad, but not mouse.

I've never liked the trackpads (on any machine) find them unusable for my uses anyway. I take your point about if you are using a desk, surely there would be a power point nearby, but as I move from meeting to meeting - even in and around university meeting rooms - powerpoints aren't easy to access (ie they are on the bottom of a skirting board or wall - and there is only one). Going into community associations to do minutes / keynote presentations etc is the same situation - but only worse. So finding a plug and having to sit away from the group is just unworkable too.

Australia I don't think really put the infrastructure in with the thought that electricity would still be popular years on...

However anyone have info on the BT drain (using a BT MM) in a current portable?

I will do some testing and report back as soon as I receive it. I ordered the BT MM.

ST9160821A. I'm pretty excited about this drive, I've read a lot of good things about it.

Well, it seems whomever couldn't find the SATA version of the Momentus drive was correct. I mistakenly ordered an ATA100 drive. Idiot me. I will use the external 160gb drive to house my ever-expanding iTunes library, and I purchased an 80gb 7200RPM drive to go into the unit. We'll see how that goes. I like the idea of lots of room to expand my iTunes library, but having be an external firewire enclosure will REALLY reduce the convenience factor.

Edit: Found a SATA momentus, part number ST9160821AS.

So far so good on the MacBook. I find the screen a little limiting, to be honest....but most of the time I connect it to an external LCD anyway. The new keyboard takes a little getting used to, its got a firmer touch than my old PowerBook. Battery life so far is a bit disappointing....I was hoping to get closer to the 4-4.5 hour range, but in real land I am getting about 3 hours.

I can't stand the Mighty Mouse, I'm going to put it up for sale already. Too small, I prefer a mouse that more conforms to my hand.
