Boxcar alternatives?

One thing I loved about Boxcar was the ability to get push notifications to my phone from anyone in my 'boxcar' list on twitter. The boxcar devs said there are no plans to fix the current bugs, so i was wondering if there are any alternatives out there? I couldn't find anything.

I haven't looked too much into alternatives when I stopped using Boxcar some time ago, but I recall some people moved on to some similar services like IFTTT.

don't most twitter apps have push now to where the need for boxcar has diminished?
