Ok i must be an idiot but for whatever reason i have no idea how to get my videos(movies and TV shows), music and pictures to display with boxee. I tried looking at their site for help but i couldn't find anything useful. I just don't know how to stream everything from my computer and external HDD to boxee. It works fine with the Apple TV, but i can figure this out with boxee

I haven't done this for Boxee, preferring just to use iTunes for streaming and Boxee for internet video. But I assume it is the same process I used when I modded my XBox with XBMC.

You need to go into the system prefs on your Mac and set up an SMB share for the folders you want Boxee to access. Go into Sharing, and then check the File Sharing box. Then use the "+" button to add the folders you want to share. Then click Options and make sure SMB is checked.

In Boxee, enter the IP address of your Mac, the username and password. That should do it.

I did everything in the system prefs to add the folders and to click SMB and what not, but i don't know where in boxee to put that information like my IP address and stuff.

You may need to set up the SMB client in Boxee first.

In this case:

1. From Boxee main menu go down to Settings
2. Go down to Network on the lower left
3. Once you're in Settings/Network go down and select SMB Client

You may need to input your information here (IP of your computer, user, password). I can't recall if you can scan and boxee auto-detects your SMB share, or not, mine's already set up and working.

Once you have correctly set up your SMB share from your Mac, then in Boxee main menu:

1. Go to Video
2. Go down to Browse
3. Got down to Network

At this time Boxee should think for a while and then hopefully see your WORKGROUP (assuming you haven't made any changes in your Mac SMB preferences to change the name of your group).

4. Select WORKGROUP
5. You should see the name of your computer shortly. (Mine is called MINI)
6. From here you can select folders.

Hope this helps.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what would my username and password be? where do I configure it?
