I was using until now iMotion (was free, now US$.99, App Store Link)—quite okay but iTimeLapse Pro seems to be much better, more features. Manufacturer's website with good and inspiring sample videos.

Try it out, it's really easy. Make some funny stop motion or impressive time laps videos, add music and share them.

Get it as soon as possible! (I am testing right now.) iTimeLapse Pro is a good candidate for a price change...

Its a brilliant app for making time lapse videos. Highly recommended even if it wasn't free.

My very first and quick test of iTimeLapse Pro. Mounted my iPhone provisionally on a chair-back and shot the look out of the window:

Resolution was set to 1200x1600 (highest possible for iPhone 3G) and I let it render during taking photos (you can't edit it later with this option). Forgot to set render options, so the result is only 480x640 @ 16 fps. Set to 1000 frames initially but I stopped manually after 400 or so. Didn't add any music (maybe later via YouTube). Upload to YouTube easy and in no time.

Little drawback: Import in iPhoto not possible (have a look at the screenshot, maybe I'll try that later again):

It seems like a nice little app. I've not created anything of value with it yet, but it can sit on my phone until I'm ready!

It has crashed on me a few times (during shooting) which is a bit of an issue - especially as I have a 3GS - I'd imagine it'll not be very stable on a 3G or lower.

I didn't even know that my good old iPhone 3G can produce HD video! Now my rendering settings were okay, added music with the app, here you have another look of 20 seconds in the streets of Vienna:

iPhoto import not possible no matter what resolution on record or on rendering. A bit buggy maybe—but hey it's v1. Get it. iTimelapse Pro is still free.

Sorry. No jailbreak here.

You obviously can export to camera roll (or watch on iPhone or email) only 640x480 (enough for touchscreen) rendered movies. The export from camera roll to Mac via iPhoto is unreliable. I use the iPhone Explorer instead (free for Mac and PC, get it here), and Laan Labs recommends "Image Capture".

But you can render high resolution (3G: max 1600x1200) movies even on an iPhone 3G (needs 12 minutes for 100 images) and upload the HD video to YouTube (that is the only thing you can do with that file—maybe jb helps here).

Here another example that I shot yesterday. A trip with a streetcar through Vienna in one minute.

Recorded 825 images 1600x1200, that makes 322,5 MB storage space on the iPhone. One frame per second. 1.5 hours in realtime.

Rendering to 14 frames per second in the same resolution took 94 minutes and the movie file has 110 MB. Upload to YouTube needed 12 minutes via Wi-Fi. Music and titled added at YouTube.
