Just got up to my parents as they had my iMac waiting for me (I've been working away in Kenya for a couple of weeks).

Unboxed it, looks fantastic and MASSIVE.
Mum gathered round for the famous boot up. OSX jingle came on with the Intro. Fantastic.

Finished the registration, all looking good when it "Kernel paniced" with the 3 language of death screen.
Mum > "Is it supposed to do that? "
Me > "erm no"

Rebooted, and now it just gets to a grey screen beeps.
F*ck'in arse.

Time to phone Apple.
Less than amused.

Spoke to Apple. Faulty memory module.
Thankfully I'd ordered 4Gb from Crucial. Apple are to replace the broken module.

How it got through any testing is a worry...

Why test the memory when they assume you're already going to upgrade the memory from 3rd party o_O? Because who would upgrade from apple :p.

in case anyone else has the same problem and doesnt know what to do i guess

posting a gripe...

Well isn't that part and parcel of being in a 'forum'? Even a complaint can be looked at as a point of discussion for future enlightenment, or reference. Besides, it is better to let off the steam than to take the box outside and put a round in the side of it!
"Remember boys and girls when we pull the pin, Mr. Grenade is NOT our friend!"...

Why do people insist on posting their problems on this forum before calling Apple? It's getting annoying.

I know I'd much rather talk on a forum to see if anyone else has had a similar experience and advice, than have to deal with customer service people. Most of the time you'll get the problem solved quicker and with much less stress.

Exactly. I just found out my Macbook Air was overheating because I had the damned vents blocked on the seat of my car, from this forum. I was ready to send it back for repairs!
