So, picked up a brand new 11 M2 Cellular iPP last week from Best Buy and checking the battery ( Coconut - see attached img ) the battery is pretty dated ( Battery Info )

Been using it for ~4 days and have 2 charge cycles on it, and the health is fine... just unsure if this should be a concern for battery degradation or could it be incorrect reading from Coconut ( I did plug in my other M2 iPP and it shows a much recent battery mfg. date from 2024 )

Thoughts ? Should I exchange it, or keep it and hope for the best ?

It's unlikely that the battery is actually 10 years old. iPads produced that year didn't have the same form factor, so I doubt any battery produced back then would even fit.

Also, I would assume it would already have degraded quite a bit by just sitting in a warehouse for that long.

So my guess is that for some reason Coconut Battery read the info incorrectly.

If it bothers you, though, by all means, get it exchanged. Personally, I'd probably keep it because I get AppleCare for my iPads anyway.

Edit: I think my 2018 Pro was giving me unrealistic readings for the battery as well in Coconut. I'd bought that used, though, so there's a chance that the battery had been replaced at some point.

Do you really think battery health would be fine on ten year old battery?

Logically, no.

But I'm no expert on battery tech and was wondering if anyone else had a similar situation with a new Apple product.

As it stands right now, I'm keeping the iPad because there's no unusual battery behavior and attributing Coconut in displaying incorrect battery info.
