Found this in my local microcenter. It’s $200 cheaper than the iPad Air 4 with same amount of RAM. Is this a good deal? Is Air 3 still worth of buying now that 4 is out?

I think you can get the iPad 8th gen 128GB with same A12 chipset and RAM for $360. Frankly, even our old A9 and A10-based iPads are working fine so I wouldn't really worry about A12 performance and longevity.

The question is whether you think the laminated display and extra storage on Air 3 are worth the price premium over 8th gen, and whether you'd rather save the $200 or so and lose the new features and form factor of Air 4.

no Air 4 has 4GB of RAM while Air 3 has 3GB...
I've got a Pro 10.5 (4GB RAM) and Air 3 (3GB RAM). Honestly, there doesn't appear to be any difference between the two as far as memory handling is concerned.

I needed to replace my old iPad Pro. Long storie short. I ended with the air 3 256 gb cel. A few 100 bucks cheaper than the Air 4 64 gb WiFi.

My younger daughter has Air 3 64GB, but she is constantly fighting for more space. I considered buying her iPad 8 128GB, to take Air 3 for my needs (I don't currently have any iPad), but I think I will go with Best buy deal to get her Air 3 256 for $550.
Last week I was at my mom's place and she still have Air 2 and even that iPad very responsive and smooth, so if price is right, I think Air 3 is still a great iPad.

Its not bad but honestly look for an older iPad Pro with active apple care and a high storage. You can move the apple care to month to month and keep a superior iPad for a similar price.

I can't stand those huge bezels so I'd rather get the 4. It's $560 at walmart right now.

On the Air 3 the side bezels are thinner than the bezels on the iPad Air 4, so it’s not that bad. Air 3 is a great device, fast and snappy but if OP can get the Air 4 for only $60 more id recommended it, even with the base 64gb storage as you can use external HD via usb c if necessary.

I would have to disagree on the storage thing. External isn't always an option for all content types (e.g. apps, media with DRM, etc). OP should decide what things he needs locally and what can be offloaded to other storage (be it USB C or cloud) and get the storage appropriate to his usage.

Personally, 64GB is just too small for me. If it had been 128GB, I could probably make that work (albeit not comfortably).

I ended up bought an iPad Pro 11 256GB for $800 with Black Friday pricing from Walmart. Best Buy is selling it for the same price. 128GB for $730. No discount on the Air 4 though
