iPod Brand new iPod, completely unresponsive

Okay, so my best friend won an iPod nano in our school's presentation of Is the Price Right? and after the first battery rundown it has become completely unresponsive. It will not turn on of its own regard, iTunes does not recognize it, and it does not come on when it is plugged in to a computer running OS X (I haven't tried my Vista partition yet)

Since it's completely dead, I can't even try to restore it. What should we do?

have you tried plugging it into the wall and doing a reset (can't remember the combo on the nano) from there?

Yep. That worked. I held the two buttons and it came right on. I had been holding play and select before, since that was the old combo. Thanks!
