I just bought a new Mac Mini to use a home theatre computer and it's taking forever to completely boot. It will get to the login screen fairly quickly, but the time it takes for the desktop to completely render is probably at least 5-10 minutes. I have hardly put anything on it as its brand new. I haven't saved anything to the computer other than a few programs (XMBC, Handbrake, Spotify, and Drobo software). I have a Drobo Gen 2 connected via firewire and a printer connected via USB. These are the only additions out of the box. Any things I can look at to try and fix the problem?

Your Mac should take no longer than 2 minutes at the absolute maximum to boot (it takes less than 10 seconds with an SSD).

If it is as new as you state then you should contact your Apple retailer that sold it to you for an exchange.
