Hi guys I finally pull the trigger and bought myself MacBook yesterday. Got 5% off the price plus no taxes, so I figured $1230.00 for brand new: White, C2D 2GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GBHD not a bad deal.
I love it this thing it is beautiful and pretty powerful (running off Apple Cinema 23" with no lugs)
I just sold my MacMini PowerPC G4 1.25GHz last week and to tell you the truth I can feel the difference.

Now my question.
After installing all sort of software on my new MacBook I went to burn a few DVDs (using Toast 8 as Data DVD). Well I was very surprised when I saw "Hardware error, can't write media etc." errors. I had to put in a garbage couple of new DVDs (yes I tried it twice). The DVDs I used were Maxwell DVD-R with printable surface (I use them all the time and never had issues before). The amount of data was around 3.85GB, Data was coming from External FW 400GB HD (plugged in to Monitor's FW port, I might change that).
Just to be sure I did one more test this morning (used regular TDK DVD-R with no printable surface) to write around 1.5GB of data from the same source and had no issues.
Are those DVD writers (I think it's says Mitsumi or something like that) that sensitive so I can't use DVDs with printable surface?
On my MacMini I had 8x DL Pioneer self installed drive and I never had the same issue or any issues with burning.

Sorry for long post and thanks for all the comments...

they're called matshita and they are very sensitive. have you tried imorting cd's to itunes? that can be a headache if your media is scratched. i'm living with my issues with the drive because the only problem i've had is importing scratched cd's. it's been fine otherwise, and i'm scared if i send it in, they will mess something up. good luck!

Thanks for the answer. I did a little more research myself and found out that in fact this drives Matshita are very sensitive and I don't think I'll be able to use it fully to my needs.
I decided to buy external FW DVD drive to do what I need. It probably will be Sony DRX830UL-T as it should do everything I wanted it to do (crossing fingers)

Thanks again...
