Gutted to experience what seem to be a complete failure of a display of my 10 days old MacBook Pro Max, 16in. While rendering FinalCutProject the display went black and all I can see is very light ghosting images of my white desktop opned windows and shadow blob what used to be a cursor...The computer does work and I can see my desktop when connected to a external display, but without it, the screen is black. I tried all the restarts but since on silicon computers no PRAM resets are available I am gutted with another issue with another new Mac. Still 5 days left to return it, but since I was waiting for delivery of this custom build since March, I just cant believe my bad luck. Anyone who can help me on what could go wrong and there is some simple button combination like display reset? As delivery of new machines is about 3 months, I am thinking unimaginable - have it fixed since I so need this for work project so so much. What do you think? What a surreal experience .. I thought Apple gave up on these and in this age and time these major issues are long gone.

It sucks for sure. Since you need it for work, opt to get it fixed. Otherwise, if you can manage another potential 3-month wait then return and wait it out.

Thanks. ....And thats exactly what I did. No guarantee I will run into similar problem in August if the replacement machine arrives. Went to the service this morning - They ran regular service test - including display and hardware and all were green and machine has no problems according to this test. Display is ordered for exchange and should be in 4-5 days, but since I was first with this problem with this machine, they could not tell what it is. They opted to replace the display first. Will report back.

Hopefully it comes back swiftly. I wonder they replace the entire top display lid or the just the panel itself?
