Can you guys tell me what is the brand/model of the hard drive in your iMac CoreDuo 17" (the 160GB hard drive. BTO please ignore).

I had a problem with my Seagate hard drive, had to have it replaced but the Western Digital they put in is fracking LOUD and they messed up my LCD screen too so I'll ask for a brand new iMac replacement and was wondering what are the odds of me getting a fracking Western Digital again in the new one.

So please list brand of hard drive in 17" iMac CoreDuo 160GB.

Hint: models starting by WDXXXXXx are Western Digital while Seagates are STXXXXX and Maxtors are 6YXXXX or DMXXXX (if I remember correctly).

Thanks!

I believe that Matshita makes the harddrives for apple products. All of mine are. I don't see why it would be different for the iMacs Core Duo. But what do I know? I don't have one.

EDIT: but I might be wrong. Western Digital may make them.

An awesome place
Matshita are the optical drives, I think more commonly Combo drives, or laptop optical drives.

Apple uses Western Digital, Fujitsu, Hitachi and Seagate Hard drives as far as I've seen.

Right. My bad. I just checked again, I was looking at ATA and not Serial-ATA. That's new to me and I'm really tired tonight. Sorry people. My MBP has a Seagate.

My 17" iMac Core Duo has the Maxtor 6L160M0 hard drive. It's been extremely fast and quiet for the 3+ months I've owned this system. No problems or noise out of it whatsoever.

I got a maxter and I HATE maxter. Sure, they're the cheapest around, but they're also one of the least reliable. They should of stuck with Samsung, western digital and pretty much anyone besides Maxter and Hitachi (IBM).
