Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has received their new unibody with Apple distributed SSD, what brand is being used for the 128 and 256gb varieties?
Thanks
I'll let you know tomorrow when I get my post WWDC 13" MBP
I don't have a lot of confidence in Apple shipped SSDs. Mine is a crappy Samsung 128 and it is as slow as molasses coming outta snails ass.
The toshibas are apparently crap too

Can anyone confirm yet what SSD is being used in the latest unibodies..
Specifically the 256GB...
yikes.. a 2 week wait and they're still using the same crappy ssd...
Indeed. It's cheaper to buy your own and install. Good chance it will be better than the one Apple gives you too.

Why is Apple sticking with the slow SSDs???
I mean, from how they describe them on Apple.com ("...they increase durability...") I think they know that these are not fast drives.
You would think that this company would want the best for their laptops.
You'd think so from the pricetag, but the only thing that's "the best" is the unibody enclosure itself. OK, the fans, the trackpad and the battery are high end stuff. The screens are pretty high end (save for the toy-grade resolution on the 13" and 15" models. But the rest -- AGERE firewire chipset, Broadcom BT/WiFi, the AWFUL RealTek sound chip, the unremarkable 9600M, the selection of hard drives... all that stuff is second rate junk. Shareholders first, customers last. You would think that this company would want the best for their laptops.
