Wouldn't it be nice if Handbrake had settings for MP4 tags? Imagine you want to rip and entire season of The Office but, you wanted the MP4 tags written at the same time... then it would be a one step conversion from Handbrake to iTunes without any extra work! You could set the Show Name, Season, Video Type, Year, Artwork and all of that stuff and then at the end of the encode, Handbrake could write those tags to your file before it's finished.

Wow, why didn't anyone else think of this?

That would still require manually inputting the tags, and we've got MetaX which is probably the best option for manual tagging.

MetaX now uploads tags to the tag-chimp database. I think a slick feature would be the ability to let handbrake take a guess at populating your tags using the tag-chimp database.

Nice thought, the HB devs have stated many times that this is a task better left to other (more specific) programs though.

the hb libs have support for tagging, so it isn't a technical issue. It's a political issue. Metal does this already and very well, hb will forward the file to metal. So there is no need for hb to also do tags.

Cheers Ed.
