Bricked iPhone With PwnageTool

I unlocked and jailbroke my iPhone 2G a couple days ago. Today I plugged it in to my Mac and it said:

USB Over Current Notice
A USB device is currently drawing too much power.
The hub to which it is attached to will be deactivated.

So I tried 2 different cables on 2 different Macs and one PC. NO RESPONSE.

I reset the factory settings on the phone and that's all I can do. I can't put it in restore of DFU mode because THE PHONE WILL NOT SHUT OFF, it just turns right back on- even after a hard reset. I heard iPhones can't be bricked, but now I'm not so sure.

keep working on it and search bricked Iphone tons of threads here about you are not the 1st to think it might be bricked and won't be the last. just keep trying you will get it.

Press and hold the Home and Sleep/wake button for 10 secs. After 10 secs release the sleep/wake but keep pressing the Home button for another 10 secs.

That will put your iPhone in DFU mode.

I thought I bricked my iPhone 3GS when I first JB'd it but I just kept trying to put it in DFU mode and viola! It did it eventually, just keep trying man it will do it.

Now, I'm not an "Apple Genius", (at least not in the sense of mods/hack/firmware) but I've fixed many of iPhone and know the hardware fairly well.

I had a similar problem that would restart when you held the home button. Turn's out the power button was stuck, so holding the home button was actually holding both, thus initiating force reset.

On this 2G, I had thought the Home buttons was stuck because I had a problem with the button where it would stick and I would smack the phone lightly and it would start working again. This started 2 days ago when the phone "bricked". But now both buttons work as they should and I don't know why it won't stay shut down. It also won't charge from the wall either.

Like I said, I don't know much about the software end, but if I could rule that out, then I could start with the hardware repairs. I just don't know why it started a few hours AFTER I pwnd it and not immediately.

My 3GS was really bricked, so much that it lost all the radios, no WiFi, no bluetooth, no 3G, no edge. It would just reboot over and over and I could not get it into restore mode. All iTunes would do was give me an error 23. Even the Apple store couldn't get it into restore. Got a new one today!

does anyone know if maybe the dock connector flex cable could be the culprit? I'm thinking "no" because it's part of the home button assembly and my home button works fine, but then again, maybe not.
