Hey guys. I got home today and went to sync my iPhone and nothing happens. It charges but iTunes doesn't recognize it. I tried both on my Mac and my Windows PC. Any ideas on fixing this? I'm running 3.0 (jailbroken). I've tried everything I can think of, even recovery and DFU mode.. any help would be great appreciated!

I checked the console and I keep seeing this message: The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying.

I had 8.1 on my Mac and that wasn't working so I upgraded to the latest version. I only tried fresh installs on my Windows PC.

The cable and the USB slot are both fine. I tried multiple slots and cables.

I tried two things and can't remember if I had the phone on or off when I started the recover but here goes

disconnect the phone from the computer
turn phone off
once off press and hold the HOME button only
now plug the phone into the computer
keep holding the home button (for up to 2 minutes)

I'm able to get to the connect to iTunes screen but my Mac still doesn't recognize the phone.

Alright guys. I don't know why or how but all of a sudden it connected to my Mac. I restored the phone and found something very interesting. The battery percentage meter that I got from sbsettings is still there even though the phone is no longer jailbroken. (I have an iPhone 2G)

That will stay there if the phone wasn't restore in DFU mode, or like the previous poster said if you restored it to a backup instead of setting it up as a new phone.
