Hi all!

I have got an iPhone 3G, 16GB.

It was locked, so I installed the iPad baseband (06.15.00) and upgraded to the 4.2.1 firmware, which all worked perfectly fine!

I then replaced the screen because it was broken, when I reassembled it I went for a full restore. Now I don't exactly remember how I restored it but I remember it froze and I tried to restart it.

At the moment I do not get ANYTHING on the screen, I can get it into WTF mode and I managed to successfully put it into PWNED DFU. However, whatever I try when I attempt to restore it with iTunes I always get an 16xx error.

I have tried to restore with custom firmwares with no baseband as well, still getting the 16xx error.

Have I severely messed up iPhone? Any hope?

Thank you

You can't brick an iPhone. Downgrade its baseband to an unlockable version using the latest version of redsn0w then rejailbreak it via DFU mode.

I tried doing that but it gets stuck on "Waiting for reboot" and just hangs, nothing happens... any ideas?

Thanks for trying to help me!

How long did you let it stay at that screen?

"Waiting for reboot" you mean? I just got a black screen, tried switching USB ports... gave up after around 5 minutes and just kept trying and trying but nothing so far...

I managed to fix it! Turned out I spilled a 1mm drop of solder onto the board bridging 2 connections, removed it and everything works fine now.

Thanks!
