Anyone else having these? I've attached the kernel panic readout, but TG Pro notes that the last shutdown (which happened after I sent an email using Mail) was a forced shut down initiated by BridgeOS (T2 Chip).

My current intel Mac Mini is out of warranty, but there is a new one available on Amazon with the i7 for like $300.00. I'm tempted to purchase that if not all intel Mac Minis have these issues with the T2 chip, so I can get apple care on it.

Are there any external peripherals connected (apart from your keyboard and mouse)? If so, does the issue occur with them disconnected?

Anyone else having these? I've attached the kernel panic readout, but TG Pro notes that the last shutdown (which happened after I sent an email using Mail) was a forced shut down initiated by BridgeOS (T2 Chip).

My current intel Mac Mini is out of warranty, but there is a new one available on Amazon with the i7 for like $300.00. I'm tempted to purchase that if not all intel Mac Minis have these issues with the T2 chip, so I can get apple care on it.

I haven't had a problem with kernel panics or T2 on my Mac Mini 2018 since this issue:

But I am also running older macOS...

I'm guessing your machine has been running fine until just recently and also relatively recently you updated to Sequoia 15.3.2? If so, my guess is this is a software bug in Sequoia 15.3.x as other people have similar (though each time it appears the exact location of the panic is different as it was in your case):

If you keep getting these, I would try downgrading to the last version of macOS you were running before this started happening (15.2, 15.3?) before buying a new computer. If this is a macOS problem, running the same version of macOS on one of these overstock Mac Mini 2018 will likely just bring the panics to the new computer.

However, before going to that trouble I would try running a hardware diagnostic:

It won't catch every hardware error but worth the sanity check before initiating what would likely be a time consuming effort to downgrade.

I actually have MacOS running on a tbolt 3 NVME enclosure. So, I updated my 256gb internal drive to the 15.4 release candidate, which updated the firmware and the BridgeOS. I'm going to see if I keep getting kernel panics. If so, I may have a personal panic and purchase a deadstock 2018 mac mini.

Just note that if this is a bug in the kernel (i.e. Darwin) or BridgeOS that was introduced in 15.2/15.3, it may not be fixed in the 15.4 RC. Apple likely started working on 15.4 RC before 15.3.2 shipped and may not have even known they introduced such a bug in the immediately prior version before they pushed out 15.4 RC. What I am saying is that even if it panics again under 15.4, I would test the prior macOS that was working for you before junking your current computer.

I had to roll back the BridgeOS by doing a restoe via DFU mode. Luckily, my OS is on the TBolt drive, so wiping the internal SDD isn't a big deal. After wiping the internal drive, however, I still had to load 15.3.2 on the internal drive before I could access the Startup Security Utility. It took me a few hours to get back to where I was on Sunday!

No kernel panics overnight, though. Maybe I needed to completely wipe it? I did jump from . . . I can't remember the names of all the MacOSes. I jumped from like Mac OS 13 to 15 because this Mac Mini has been in a drawer for a while. Maybe that corrupted the BridgeOS for some reason.

New question: Does my experience with the 15.4 mean I shouldn't update? I'm leaning toward not updating. But, if it was just some bad, rogue code in BridgeOS, then maybe it's safe to update?

Not quite sure I am following -- my impression was that you updated from macOS 13.x to macOS 15.3.2 (24D81) when the kernel panics started happening. Then you haven't gotten the kernel panics since you shifted to macOS 15.4 RC? Are you asking whether you should update to the final 15.4?

In November, when I got my mac mini out of a drawer, I updated from Ventura to Sequoia. In the meantime, I did all the repasting the CPU, etc. I was occasionally getting BridgeOS kernel panics at that time, but it was the least of my worries, as you remember.

On Sunday, I updated to the 15.4 RC to see if that would fix the BridgeOS-related kernel panics. It did not. They got worse. So, went into DFU mode and did a restore as revive wasn't working. I had to reinstall MacOS to my internal SSD . . . now I'm afraid to upgrade to 15.4 after having the bad experience with the BridgeOS kernel panics and 15.4.

Ah, I didn't notice you were the same person from the thread on repasting your CPU, etc.

Now I better realize the full history and lots of stuff going on there.

Honestly not confident your issues are hardware or software at this point. My guess is that macOS 15.4 would be about the same as macOS 15.4. RC on your system which is to say I doubt it would resolve your issues nor make them worse.

I'd probably downgrade to Ventura or Sonoma (whichever is easiest for you at the moment) and disconnect the eGPU and see if the issues persist. If not, try adding back the eGPU and then try Sequoia without the eGPU. Do you only have the issue when using the eGPU on Sequoia?

If the issue persists in all those cases, might try forcing a downgrade on the BridgeOS (which I believe requires Apple Configurator running on a 2nd Mac, etc) to the version that came with macOS 15.3.2 or older.

I did just see others report issues with eGPU with Sequoia 15.4 but not everyone and downgrading just macOS didn't seem to help so not clear if their issue was hardware, BridgeOS, or something else:

So far, so good after the restore. No kernel panics at all. I'll feel better when it's been a full week since a kernel panic, however.

Have had my 2018 Mini for 5 years and push it very hard, usually runs 24/7 downloading terabytes of data and crunching into millions of map tiles for my website in a Windows VM under parallels. Have had some crashes, pretty much always because I pushed it beyond its limits running multiple apps in MacOS and Windows at the same time. But have never seen a kernel panic/bridge os error. I am still on Monterey and have never opened up my Mini though.

The Mini's on Amazon are tempting, I had a look at those recently after someone posted here. (supposedly) new in box 2018 hex-core i7 Minis with 32gb RAM. The caveat is that they only have the 128gb internal SSD (which, of course is not upgradeable). I never realized they put 128gb disks in these top-spec models, but everymac confirms they did actually exist.
