Hi,

unfortunately, I noticed a bright spot on my iMac's screen. Apple customer service said I have to bring the Mac to the nearest store to get it looked at and repaired.
Can things like this even be repaired in these new iMacs? The bright spot is only noticeable on white/light background, but still. Pic is attached, its much more obvious in reality.

They will most likely either repair your Mac (replace the screen) or trade in for a new Mac. Sorry about the defect; sometimes they make it through quality control.

I think it appeared over time, I didn't see it before.
The question is - if they repair it, will it be possible that everything is worse afterwards? The way I understand is, that they have to remove the adhesive that keeps the iMac together to swap screens... o_O

Can things like that get bigger over time? I really don't know what to do, it's a small spot and annoying but it's not the worst thing ever (but if I'm honest also not acceptable for such an expensive machine).

Looks like a pressure point mark, not a stuck (hot) pixel. A hot pixel would stay bright and be even more apparent on a dark background.
A pressure point could be from the front of the panel (possibly your fault) or from the back of the panel or from a foreign body between layers of the panel (their fault).
Carefully check there are no signs of any indentation from the front.

Yeah that's what I thought. Nothing happened to the iMac, I mean, it's Glass and Aluminium, anything I did would be obvious right away.
I think I'm going to take it to the next service provider, while it's small it also shouldn't happen.

Small update:

didn't have time to bring the iMac to get evaluated yet. The pressure point is getting slowly bigger though, so I will have to bring it in before the 1 year warranty runs out.
I also attached another pic, the mark is visible in the left upper corner.

So I finally got it fixed.
The screen looks perfect again but it's not attached as flush as the old one was. I guess it's ok, but it would be better if apple wouldn't glue the screen to the back for future iMacs...

The new screen took a few days to arrive and I was without the iMac for 16 days.
