M1 MBA. Updated from 13.6.9 to 13.7.
Brightness controls no longer have any effect on the built-in display.
The display stays 100% bright.

I tried the Brightness keys (F1, F2), the slider in the Control Center, the slider in the "System Preferences --> Display" section. No luck.
Anyone else?

EDIT: I found out: After a reboot the brightness controls will not work until you have closed and opened the lid of the MBA. After that they work normally.

Hi, I'm having the same issue on MBA M1, after updating to 13.7.

While that workaround is nice, the issue is present every time the OS restarts 😠

Yikes. I took the risk, upgraded, and didn't run into this problem though. I wonder if it is a M1 thing since mine was Intel.

If I had to guess, I would say yes! I saw on Reddit some other people with the same issue, and the common denominator was Apple Silicon machines.

I've solved the issue by upgrading to macOS 14.7
