Anyone found a ‘simpler’ way to access the brilliance or Volume control when using the ASK?

Got to say; using the ASK is a love hate relationship.
Yes it’s great to use for ‘general’ run of the mill typing but a pain when wanting to either change the brilliance or volume Up/Down/Mute.
It’s here where I think it’s more convenient to go back to my cheap Bluetooth keyboard which gives me all of these plus more.

I appreciate the Volume controls on the top of the iPad Pro can handle volume up and down but it would be interesting to hear how you guys get around these issues.

I have never even thought about this, until you mentioned it. I just use the buttons on the iPad.
I can understand Tommy, I just find it annoying when in a certain App and you find the brilliance is not right, you can’t adjust it whilst in the App. You have to leave the App, go into setting then alter the brilliance and hope you have it at the right setting.
Same for if you are playing music whilst in an App, you can’t mute. You have to press the volume down until the sound is Off. Trouble with that is it does not pause the track you are listening to.

You would have thought given we are now on the next version of the ASK Apple would have thought about keyboard shortcuts for Brilliance and Volume.

Interesting, I'm still mad about no backlight keyboard.

The reason you’ve mentioned are a few of the reasons I bought the Logitech Slim Combo for my first gen iPad Pro. It has a row of keys for brightness/volume and such. Plus it’s backlit. The downside was that it added a lot of thickness and weight. I have the current 12.9 and hope Logitech makes a keyboard for it also. For now I’m using Apple’s folio keyboard. It’s nice but missing a few features for sure.

I am not aware of specific keyboard shortcuts to replace all the function keys on my Logitechs. That and the missing backlight make it a no-go purchase for me.

Maybe as a next step I’ll grab the keys to go from Logitech, at least it doesn’t get dumped every 2-3 years when I buy a new iPad.

Personally, I really don’t care about additional thickness- the device is a tool for me and I didn’t buy it to win the cutest desk awards on the forum, I want a keyboard with good positive typing experience and infinite screen angle adjustments.

You have Control Center for those things.

I have several - too many - Bluetooth keyboards but this is the only back-lit one:

Super lightweight and works great. And inexpensive.
22.00?? That’s pretty cheap. It works well you say? It does not physically connect anywhere? That’s what I like about my Smart Keyboard.

There was a company making an all aluminum keyboard that was for the old design. Backlit and same silver finish as a MBP. Can’t remember the brand, but it was 150.00.

Works great, no physical connection unless you use the case to prop/hold the iPad.
