Bring back the White colored Apple Products!

Should Apple bring back white colored products such as white iPods and white iMacs?

Personally I feel that Apple products (expect for the iPhone) are loosing their charm, because they now look so much like all the other products out there from different manufactures.
I still have the white Core 2 Duo iMac from Sep. 2006, which I think looks a whole lot nicer then the current aluminum one.
I also still have the white 30 GB ipod, but it's getting old so I'm getting a new mp3 player soon. The thing is that I'm not sure if I'm getting a new iPod, because I don't like any of the current ones. I would really like a white colored one again like I have now, but not the same one.
First I wanted to get an iPhone, because I like the way it looks and it's a good iPod too, but I don't want to get out of my pocket every time I switch a song, cause of the touchscreen.

Btw, I know I can get a white colored ipod or iMac from Colorwarepc.com, but paying an extra €100 for it + shipping cost isn't really what I'm into.
 
To each his own. Personally, I never really liked the white, especially on keyboards. In a high-use facility they show dirt really fast. I've always ditched the white keyboards as soon as they came in.

I really like the aluminum keyboard ... and my black iPod.

I like the new keyboard too. I just wish that the keys weren't white for the reason that you mentioned--they get dirty too quick. Plus I always eat brownies dripping with chocolate frosting while I'm working at my computer and that doesn't help anything.

I think black keys might have been nice. They would match the iMac well and not show dirt as fast. Either way the keyboard is great IMO.

But I do agree it would be nice if they still had a white iPod.
 
Don't forget the Time Capsule, Airport Extreme, Airport Express, Mac Mini, and AppleTV. I do think white is on is way out, though. At least for a while. Change is a good thing, in a few years we'll look back at the white products and think it's dated.

Exactly four: the 20" 2.0GHz iMac, 20" 2.4GHz iMac, 24" 2.4GHz iMac and of course don't forget the 24" 2.8GHz iMac. lol!

I had a white Core Duo 20" iMac prior to my 24" aluminum and I much prefer the new design. I also like the glossy screen better than the prior matte.
 
White = Plastic = Bad for the Environment

Jobs' plan was to slowly get away from using plastic in Apple products. Plastic is much harder to recycle than Aluminum. This is the biggest reason behind the plethora of Alu products out nowadays. I don't this we will be seeing a surge of white Apple-esque products coming back anytime soon... :)
 
I personally like the white too. I just ordered a 20" AL iMac from the refurb store, but debated going with the older all white they had.

However, 1) it was a bit more expensive, although the processor was a touch faster, 2) those only go up to 3gb of ram and 3) those have an older graphics processor (I think).

Is the ATI Radeon X1600 with 128MB GDDR3 memory older than the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB memory? I would assume so, although Ive heard ppl say the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB memory was a step backwards. All that said though, graphics horsepower is a total non-factor for me. I currently have a mini, you know, 950GMA integrated, but it suits me for what I need.

But to sum it up, yes, I like the all white still.

Makes sense, though I could see them introducing aluminum painted white at some distant point...
 
Heck I want them to bring back the textured beige like early 90's Apple products. Then make the iPhone and iPod touch the same size as a Newton with the same style case, then maybe we could have a 100GB 1.8" HD and a screen you can read. Further put the Macbooks in 90's Powerbook style cases, except remain slim with the large nearly borderless screens.

Oh well one can always dream, especially the iPhone part. I was floored when I saw how tiny the screen was I was expecting the iPhone to be the size of a standard PDA.
 
I love the white design, but I always found it to be a tad too trendy, I don't see myself exactly as some cool 'hipster'.
It even looks a bit 'cheap', 'form over function'-like (I am talkin about esthetics only), the computer you have to own because its design matches your cool white iPod.

The new aluminum design is more classy, understated and professional looking.
 
I think the white looks classier, and a lot more happy than the Alu models. The new iMac's have an almost sad look to them, all grey and black. The new models are nice, but I still prefer my white iMac.

Wait until you buy one and throw it atop a nice, dark wood desk... You will be singing a different tune then. They look very professional IMO. :D
 
Other than for environmental reasons, and wanting to almost reinvent themselves, I think Apple wanted to move away from white because almost every other consumer electronics company has already copied it so it has lost its uniqueness.

That's a good point as well. Apple has been known to flip the script and keep everyone guessing. :D
 
Ya know ... some people are wishing for a " consumer tower ".

Something between the iMac and the Mac Pro.

How about a " Retro Mac " ....

A C2D based system in a Apple II/IIe style case?

Yeah, exactly!
I know it sounds weird, but when looking at the two different versions they have a different feel/mood/expression.

It's mainly white iPods that I want to see again. Without the white, the iPod isn't really the iPod anymore....just another mp3 player.

It looks hideous. I'm really glad that my desk is up against the wall because the black plastic looks stupid on a machine that really should be all one colour.

The old iMac was a MUCH more considered design. I get the impression Apple changed the iMac just for change's sake and did it in a rush. The black rim on the display makes it look like some retro television set and it really doesn't send out any sort of "professional" image.
 
I'm probably going to skip the "ALU" design phase, seeing as I just got my iMac not so long ago, so I'm not really anxiously begging them.

I am really interested to see where they'll go next though. Back to white? Stick with Alu/Black? Something else?

Also an iPod "Classic" with no white variant is a crime!
 
Would be nice if Apple allowed customisable options for your macs, and you pay for the upgrades. charge like $200 for an aluminium macbook upgrade. choose the colors of your keyboard, etc. would be nice, not going to happen tho.

Personally, i prefer the silver alimiunum, the plastic white just scratches badly and gets amazingly dirty quickly.
