My iPhone 3GS is frozen... I've rebooted numerous times. Plugged and unplugged. The only thing left is to let the battery drain completely.

The Genius Bar is booked solid until tomorrow night... do you think I can return it to an AT&T (or Best Buy) store and get a replacement on the spot? Or, should I just wait it out for Apple? The iPhone was originally purchased at Apple a month ago.

Cliff.

Your best bet is to bring it back to the apple store (since your brought it from there) btw did your try to put it in DFU?

You bought it from Apple.

Your warranty is from Apple.

Simple, bring it to the Apple store to get it replaced. Honestly, book an appointment for tmrw night and be done with it.
