I think for Apple's most basic offering i.e. entry level Mac we have done pretty well as it is with this upgrade. If you want a quad then you will have to look elsewhere.

I am not asking for the quad in the basic model. I want the quad and the better graphics card in one box and pulling the internal psu is the best way to do it. The server has a quad cpu it pulls 45 watts the gpu card pulls 15 watts an 85 watt internal power supply won't cut it.

This would be a simple upgrade to the hi-end BTO. you are already using a powercord from the wall to the mini if it has a brick 110 watt supply is easy to do. gives room inside the unit for a bigger fan better cooling.

I ask all gamers if the 799 model had an add-on quad and a 512 gb gpu but you had to have a brick would you want that mini? Yeah the low cost model can be brick free easy to do that. right now the 799 model is about 1.1k if you add the i7 2.7 and the 750gb 7200rpm hdd.

If it was 1.2 k with the i7 quad the 512gb gpu the 750 rpm hdd and a brick would you want it. Apple has already made this new mini have a lot of power it would be very easy to bump it up just a little bit more really quick like they did in 2009.

I would have to say I probably agree with this. By going this route, would Apple be able to theoretically give the mini a MagSafe adapter? I wish it had it so the ACD could charge it without an additional power cord.

If they do the external brick for ivy bridge I hope for a quick update not a long one maybe early first quarter of 2012.

With the quad in the server they have quite a powerhouse a better gpu and a better quad they will be the best little computer again.

I don't think you will see a refresh until ivy bridge next year. I think Ivy Bridge will be a game changer for the industry when it comes out.

Ivy Bridge is second quarter 2012. Mac mini update not likely until at least mid year 2012.

I think they could do that.



The mini's future is looking very good right now. The server could be turned into a supermachine with very little effort on apple's part.

It could have a quad i7 2.3 a discrete gpu twin ssds and link to 12tb raid with t-bolt. The foot print would be 7.7 by 7.7 just put the mini on top of the promise pegasus

you are about 7.7 by 7.7 by 12 the mini would over hang a bit.

this machine would be great for a lot of business use.
