i've always invoked the emoji window with command-control-space. since updating to the big sur beta yesterday (19nov20), this no longer works (on both of my macs). so, this must be happening for others.

is there something i need to do to restore this functionality? (it's very important 🙄 )

EDIT: fixed in the dec 5 beta...!

I also used the cmd+ctrl+space combo a lot. FN key actually sits where emojis are on iOS. So I don't think it's gonna take a lot of time to adapt.

It's a bug. If you click the relevant app's "Edit" menu to open it, then it'll work for a while. I fixed it (temporarily):

I wonder if it's a bug introduced as they tried to support the new Emoji key on the M1 laptops.

Strange. I'm on 11.0.1 (final) and ctr+cmd+space working flawlessly.
hmm, interesting. if that functionality is restored in a coming beta, i'll probably, by then, have adapted to the fn key. 😆 either way, there's an easy way to get emojis into important documents, email, webforums.... 👍

The fn key on my external keyboard was working as the new emoji key, but suddenly stopped, even though it's linked in keyboard settings. 🤷🏼‍♂️

go to system preferences>languages & region>keyboard preferences>keyboard... make sure "show Fn key to" is set to 'show emoji & symbols'.

alternately... try rebooting.

just wanted to report that command-control-spacebar works again (in the december 5 beta). glad it's fixed!
Thanks for that. I fixed the issue with a keyboard shortcut that did the same thing which brought the functionality back, but I can tidy things up now by removing it.

i'd been using the fn key for the time being, but good to have this back, am used to it (and, being left-handed, was a nuisance to have to 'leave' the keyboard for the fn key)...
