After almost two years, I finally damaged by iPhone X. Ironically after dropping it many times, this time it literally fell from a couple inches while I was underneath my car. The back glass doesn't look too bad... from a purely cosmetic standpoint it's probably not worth replacing. However, I take this phone in water a lot, and while I'm not swimming with it or anything crazy, it does get relatively wet. I'm wondering if I should pay the $99 (with Applecare, which the other day I was joking I had paid for unnecessarily) and replace the back glass. I don't actually know if that would help, or if taking the phone apart might make it LESS water resistant. I figured I'd pay an extra $49 and have them replace the battery while it's in there, that way it can easily last another year or two until Apple releases a phone that makes me want to upgrade! Your advice please?

They will replace the phone as replacement of the rear glass isn’t possible in store. The replacement phone would have new seals so the water resistance would be much better than an older phone. Seals deteriorate over time and water resistance is lost. In your situation, I’d get it replaced...

Thank you! That sounds great... will make sure to backup and then bring it in.
