So I have been trying to fix my iphone 5 for the past 4 hrs I'm trying to restore and start fresh on 6.1.2 every time I try to restore I get the 3194 error I fix that with the host file fix and I get the 1600 error I'm so lost all I want to do is restore my iphone and start fresh that's all please help.

Just to show that error does some time stem from an iOS jail break here's a lovely quote from imore.com

EDIT ***

"According to iTunes diagnostics, this error arises when you try using unsigned firmware especially during a downgrade or even iPhone restore. When you upload a custom jail broken firmware on your Apple device, this error is bound to be triggered as it is not recognized by Apple firmware signing services on iTunes. The resultant effect is blocking of your firmware and in essence you cannot change it on your device. Jail breaking is a common trend among most Apple device users but when you seek to change it to custom iOS firmware, the error crops up. This problem is very common if you have used CYDIA to JAILBREAK."

Oh but wait you guys letting me know to use GOOGLE should have known that. I mean being GOOGLE users and all.

You can't restore to 6.1.2. 6.1.3 If your only option.

You can restore to 6.1.2 anymore. Apple isn't signing it. You can only go to 6.1.3.

Wow way to go you brought a** to a whole new level like I said in my first post I did all I could to fix it so unless you post is useful and informative don't post !!!

Thanks for the info I restored to the newest iOS I'm gonna have to wait till iOS 7 so it's all good

Maybe the mods can move this thread to the correct forum since it has nothing to do with jailbreaking.

It doesn't it had to do with a jail broken iPhone 5 that I was having problems restoring from. Hmmm I thinking does actually.

Sorry, I missed your previous references to your phone being jailbroken. Oh, that's right, you never mentioned it was jailbroken.

Edit: And gngan's post was correct and had you done that when you first got the 1394, you would have saved 4 hours.

So I'm guessing some are just not understanding, which I find absolutely strange, because when you come here so many if you are actually quite helpful. So lets clarify and redo the initial post. Already attempted the 3194 fix by fixing the host file, which I found in GOOGLE. That fix did not work, once I found how to do it correctly off of a GOOGLE SEARCH I then came into another 1600 error which I used GOOGLE to attempt and address that issue to no resolve. I then DIRECTED my self to MACRUMORS forums. To be told to use GOOGLE to resolve my issue. Very strange the help you need comes from a source you already use but STILL doesn't work. Hopefull that clears up any further GOOGLE JOKES :)
To add. where do you think "most" 3194 errors come from when you JAILBREAK AN IPHONE that's why you use the HOST FILE FIX. Found on GOOGLE to try and fix it.
